The Huge Opportunity of Climate-Impact Investing

All over the world governments are rolling-out new climate-risk reporting rules, and that means all investors are now sustainable investors.

This represents huge progress in the way capital markets view environmental risks, and while we still have a long way to go in decarbonising our economy… we’ve reached a critical mass of positive change.

At this juncture, a set of exciting opportunities have emerged for investors to fund and support the new breed of climate-focussed companies. A new language is emerging, and most importantly, a new model of financial analysis.

This is Climate-Impact Investing, it’s leading the industrial and financial overhaul of our economy, and it’s set to be the most powerful investment theme this century.

This has been a key focus of my work and my writing over the past decade, but at this pivotal moment in time, where policy, technology and capital have converged, I’m doubling down on the opportunity, and I’m relaunching my consulting business under a new banner, it’s called Wearth.

Wearth is a boutique consulting firm, working with fund managers and founders to design impact measurement systems that unlock value.

Plus… I’m excited to announce that I will be partnering with Tideline, the preeminent global impact advisory firm.

Tideline will contribute its expertise to enhance Wearth’s consulting services for select clients in Australia and APAC. We’re excited to leverage Tideline’s institutional offering in the region, to support more managers with cutting-edge impact strategies, and continue the evolution of impact finance. All aimed at accelerating positive change.

Stay tuned for more updates about our current projects, and hit reply if you'd like to know about our service offering.

A new website is on the way, and you can sign-up here to follow progress.

I’ll continue to use this newsletter, and the Good Future podcast, to share insights and stories about the impact innovators who are reshaping our economy. And keep you up to date on the projects I’m working on, as well as all the investment opportunities that are set to shape the future.

It’s going to be a big year, stay tuned.

Impact investing is not an asset class, rather, it's an approach that can be applied to a diverse range of asset classes, and while this I’ve spoken about this concept at length in this newsletter, today I want to focus on fixed income. Fixed income is the world’s largest asset class. It has a set of unique characteristics that make it ideal for driving impact outcomes, but so far it hasn’t been utilised at anywhere near its full potential. Popular perception lags its intrinsic value There’s...

Australia has launched its very own Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, a long-awaited framework to classify what counts as ‘sustainable’. It follows global moves led by the EU, and aims to categorise a range of economic activities, highlighting ‘green’ leaders, as well as sectors making the ‘transition’. To help you understand what it’s all about I found the perfect guest to join me on the Good Future podcast, and that’s Linda Romanovska! In the episode she helps us understand why it’s important...

Amid all the noise, climate change persists Politics will sway like a pendulum, businesses rise and fall, but looking long-term the trajectory is clear, we're pushing our environmental systems ever-closer to collapse. Shifting your focus from the short-term to the long-term is never easy, but this is how investors position themselves ahead of the rest. To recognise the huge challenges on the horizon, and deploy capital to support those delivering solutions. Impact investing is a lens you can...
